Disneyland Park

Disneyland is the original park created by Walt Disney and was opened in July 17 1955 in Anaheim California. It is located in Anaheim California. There are 8 lands in this park. They are Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, New Orleans Square, Critter Country, Frontierland, Mickey's Toontown, Fantasyland, and Tommowland.

This area is currently under construction and may not have all the attractions information. Please check back as we are working on the information.

Main Street U.S.A.

Main Street U.S.A. is the first land that you will enter. Based upon the turn of the 20th century small town in the United States. The main street has many different stores, guest relations in the City Hall, and a few attractions. They are the following attractions: Disneyland Railroad Station, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Main Street Vehicles, and Main Street Cinema.

Main Street will also lead to the the Disneyland Hub that has the Partner Statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. TFrom the hub you are able to go to the different lands of park.

Comments:  Strollers must fold up to go on this ride, so if you rented a stroller from the Park, you can either come back to your starting point, or you can take your belongings and your stroller rental receipt and get another stroller at the next stop. Also there are no ramps to the loading station for wheel chairs as the station is considered a historical site and they are unable to renovate to make changes. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

Location: Main Street U.S.A.

Attraction Type: Audio Animatronic Show

Fastpass: No

Summary: Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was one of the exhibits that Walt Disney created for the 1964 World Fair in New York for the State of Illinois. It was one of the original animatronics created. After the World Fair, Walt Disney brought the attraction back to Disneyland. The show is in the Opera House in Town Square and was recently refurbished in 2009 that included new audio-animatronics for Mr. Lincoln. The pre-show area has different models of Disneyland and also an area where you can see The First 50 Years movie on a small screen.

Comments:The show takes place in a large theatre. Seating is usually first come, first served, but cast members can assist you if you wish to be near the exit. The show is very lengthy, and younger or low-functioning children may not follow the story line. The sound can be quite loud at times. You are able to exit at any time if you need to.

Main Street Cinema

Location: Main Street U.S.A.

Attraction Type: Continuous Cartoons

Summary This small theater is a standing room area that shows the original Mickey Mouse cartoons. It is just a place where you can walk in and watch them.

Main Street Riding Vehicles

Location:      Main Street U.S.A.

RideType:    Horse-drawn and motorized vehicles

Passengers:  Varies by type

Fastpass?      No

Minimum Height:  None

Summary:   If you are looking for a unique way to travel up Main Street towards the Park Hub, consider taking a ride on one of the different Main Street Vehicles.  You might be able to catch a ride on a horse-drawn Trolley car, a "horseless carriage" car, or a double-decker bus.  There's even a small fire truck that occassionally takes passengers on a quick three minute ride down Main Street U.S.A.

Comments:   This can be a fun diversion for children who enjoy horses - although there is a strict "no petting" rule.  It's a unique way to travel, but be aware that the rides may not operate when crowds are heavy.

Adventureland

Situated between New Orleans Square and Main Street USA, Adventureland focuses on adventures of the world. The rides located in Adventureland are The Enchanted Tiki Room, Indiana Jones Adventure, the Jungle Cruise, and Tarzan's Treehouse. Another attraction that is also in Adventureland is Aladdin's Oasis.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Location: Adventureland

Ride Type: Audio-Animatronic Show

Passengers: 250 guests per show

Fastpass? No

Minimum Height: None

Summary:Aloha! The Enchanted Tiki Room brings you the delights of the Hawaiian Islands, sponsored by Dole. Since 1963, the birds of the Tiki Room, headed by the MC Jose, take you on a musical adventure while singing those familiar songs "In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" and "Let's All Sing What the Birdies Sing." After giving you a taste of a Hawaiian Luau, presented by the flowers and tikis, the Tiki Gods become angered because of the festivities, bringing the show to a close. This is a favorite attraction for adults (the perfect ride to sit down in the air conditioning and enjoy a Dole Whip), and the music is familiar, enjoyable and upbeat.

Comments: The Enchanted Tiki Room can become very dark and very loud with the thunder and lightning effects. This can be overwhelming for some children. Try to find a seat near the exit, you can ask a cast member to help you with this seating arrangement. Although this ride can overwhelm children with sensory issues, this may be an enjoyable ride for older children with higher functioning autism.

Hidden Mickeys: Coming Soon

The Jungle Cruise

Location: Adventureland

Ride Type: Boat Ride

Passengers: About 25-30 guests per boat

Fastpass? Yes

Minimum Height: None

Summary: This wacky boat ride takes you through scenes from several of the world's major rivers, including the Mekong, Congo, Nile, and Amazon Rivers. Originally created to be an educational ride, in the 1960s it became a comedic attraction, filled with bad jokes and puns performed by straight-faced captains. The ride is full of audio-animatronic animals and people, but there are a few scary scenes along the way. Plus, where else can you see the 8th wonder of the world- the backside of water?

Comments: Because this is an actual boat ride, boarding can be difficult, as the boat tends to drift away from the dock. However, casts members are there to assist guests to board and depart safely from the boat. Most children will not understand the jokes-They focus more on the audio-animatronic animals. The real fun for the adults is if you groan aloud at the captain's corny jokes-so feel free to play along!

Indiana Jones Adventure

Location: Adventureland

Ride Type: Thrill Ride

Passengers: 4 per row, 12 per ride vehicle

Fastpass? Yes

Minimum Height: 48 inches

Summary: Enter the exciting world of our favorite explorer Indiana Jones. This is a Fastpass definite, as the wait time can be as long as two hours! When entering the attraction, you travel through the Temple of Doom, and wind your way down through the temple to the pre-show area, where a canny little video warns you to look not into the eyes of Mara. After the pre-show, you ascend and descend a set of stairs, leading you to the ride vehicle, a jeep that takes you through the temple. When the ride begins, you will go through one of three doors: Unlimited wealth, eternal youth, and ultimate knowledge. Then you take off, trying to escape the temple, with help from Indiana Jones, of course. All Praise the Eye!

Comments: This is a High Adventure Thrill Ride! If you have any health problems or are pregnant, this is not a recommended ride. A warning for parents: this ride has sudden turns and sounds, is very loud, and can be scary at times. This can easily cause sensory overload in children.
If your child enjoys these kinds of rides, there are a couple little interactive parts on the way to the ride vehicle. Along the way look for a giant bamboo pole on the left hand side of the path (where the skulls and spikes are) and give it a tug. The roof starts to "collapse", only being held up by this bamboo pole. Also, there will be a well with a rope and a sign reading "Do Not Pull." Pull the rope, and you will hear a man falling back into the water (it takes about 1 minute to reset, so don't continuously pull on the rope). If your child needs to stay in a wheelchair or stroller, or you have a special assistance card, a cast member will allow you to take the elevator, located before the you reach the stairs, to the other side, which helps if your child cannot stand in lines.

Aladdin's Oasis

Location: Adventureland

Ride Type: Show

Passengers: About 200

Fastpass? No

Minimum Height: None

Summary: Come to this faraway place and here the story of Aladdin. Based off the 1992 feature film, Aladdin's Oasis is a 20 minute show, hosted by Kazoom and Kazeem, the head storytellers, that tells the story of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. Throughout the story, some guests are selected to help perform. So hop on a carpet and fly to Aladdin's Oasis, next to the Tiki Room, and experience "A Whole New World."

Comments: The theater is located outside (Sorry, no air conditioning for this show). The show lets guests start seating 10 minutes before showtime, but many guests wait longer. The attraction is only open on weekends, except during the busiest times of the year when it is open everyday. Children are encouraged to sit on the floor in front of the stage, and there are seats and tables for adults. Try to sit close to the exit if your child doesn't do well with sitting for long periods of time. This attraction is handicap accessible, so ask a cast member for assistance to sit in the designated area. Also, strollers must be left outside, unless your stroller is marked as a wheelchair.

New Orleans Square

Located between Adventureland and Frontierland, New Orleans Square is based on the French Quarter in New Orleans. Not an original land and was the last land imagined by Walt Disney. It hosts two of the most well known attractions Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. It also has several restaurants including the Blue Bayou located along the beginning of the Pirates of Caribbean, several shops, and the exclusive members only club known as Club 33.

Haunted Mansion

Location: New Orleans Square

RideType: Dark Ride

Passengers: 2-3 per “Doom Buggy” ride vehicle

Fastpass? No

Minimum Height: None

Summary: Come and join the 999 Happy Haunts on a journey through a mansion filled with spooks, specters, and grinning ghosts. Once you enter the mansion, things may get scary for younger or lower-functioning children. You enter a room “with no windows and no doors”. The room seems to stretch, revealing the dangerous situations most of the portrait subjects were experiencing (such as walking on a tightrope over a lake of alligators). The lights go out, a voice screams, and above you is the silhouette of a hanging man. At this point, the doors open and you proceed to your “Doom Buggy” vehicle. As you journey through the mansion, you’ll encounter a ghostly ballroom, Madame Leota hovering in a crystal ball during a séance, and a spooky graveyard featuring the foolish antics of it’s ghostly inhabitants. As you leave the mansion, some of the ghosts will try to catch a ride home with you!

Comments: While this ride is funny for adults, it is scary for children with autism. The waiting area (where the room stretches) gets very crowded with guests, and can be frightening with the darkness, thunder, and other special effects. The stretching room is also an elevator that is lowered, to the attraction loading area. There is little movement that you can feel. To board and exit the ride vehicle you must transfer from a moving sidewalk which may be difficult for children with transition issues. The graveyard scenes can be frightening, because skeletons pop up suddenly from behind tombstones. At one part in the ride, the vehicle goes backwards down a gentle slope. It is best to preview the attraction for yourself before putting your child on the ride.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Location: New Orleans Square

Ride Type:  Boat ride

Passengers:  3-5 per row, 5 rows per boat

Fastpass?  No

Minimum Height:  None

Summary: This is the original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction that is now different Disney Parks. This is one of Walt's last attraction that he worked on. Originally conceived as a walk through museum of pirates, it was changed to the boat ride that we all know. Pirates of the Caribbean is the story of a group of pirates who sack the town of Port Royal.  You board your boat, then head out into the swamp of Louisiana. Davy Jones issues a warning that "dead men do tell tales", right before you take two short drops. You exit the flume in a pirate's treasure cave, complete with the skeletons of pirates who died fighting each other over the treasure.  The next scene takes you into the battle between the pirate ship and the fort, where cannon fire is exchanged on both sides.  As you enter the town, they have Carlos (they mayor perhaps?) in a well, and are questioning him about the whereabouts of Captain Jack Sparrow. See if you can spot the amazingly lifelike audio-animatronic Jack as he hides from the pirates.  You'll see a "bride auction", a group of pirates singing the traditional song ("we're really bad eggs"), the prison scene complete with dog holding the keys, and finally the treasure room.  Will Captain Jack be able to find the treasure?

Comments:  This ride can be very intense for children with sensory issues.  The cannon fire alone is enough to overwhelm some children, and there is constant visual stimulation.  Our son (with moderate autism) loves this ride, but it may scare other children.  We recommend you send an adult who is familiar with your child on the ride first to see if it's appropriate for your situation.

Summary: Zip-a-dee-doo-dah! Br'er Rabbit is going searching for his "Laughin' Place" and you can come along for a wild water ride through the Briar Patch and beyond. Based on Disney's "Song of the South" movie, the ride introduces you to Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, Br'er Bear, and other critters (many recycled from the "America Sings" attraction that shut down years ago). The ride is a water flume ride, and there are several short drops during the ride before the spectacular drop (five stories tall!). You'll know when the big drop is coming because there are vultures on hand to heckle you. After the last drop, which offers a great view of the park, you enter a "Showboat" scene before finishing the ride.

Comments: There are several drops and the last drop is the fastest and largest. You can see this drop from the front of the ride. There are times where the ride will get dark and can be a little scary. There is a very good chance that you will get wet to soaked after all this is "Splash Mountain".

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Location: Critter Country

Ride Type: Dark Ride

Passengers: 6 per Honey Hive

Fastpass: No

Minimum Height: None

Summary: This ride is based on the Disney Movie “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”. Visitors board a “honey pot” for a ride through the stories and adventures of Pooh Bear, Tigger, Kanga and Roo, Owl, Piglet, Eeyore, and of course the Hefalumps and Woozles. You start off in the blustery day tale, then go bouncing with Tigger through the Hundred Acre Woods. Tigger warns Pooh about Hefalumps and Woozles that steal “hunny”, but Pooh falls asleep right into the dream (and song) of the dreaded Hefalumps and Woozles. Emerging from the dream, your are immediately “submerged” into the rainy day tale. As you float through the woods, you end up at the party given in Pooh’s honor for saving the day.

Comments: This is a beautiful ride and a favorite of ours. It’s very true to the movie, so if your child is a fan, we recommend this ride. However, the scene with the Hefalumps and Woozles can be frightening with loud noises, singing, and visual overload. If that is a concern, you might have an adult in your party ride first to evaluate.

Comments:  This ride can be scary for children who are not used to fast roller-coasters.  The train jerks a lot, and the curves make you slide towards your seat partner as you hold on tight.  If your child loves roller-coasters, this is a good ride for them.  If they don't - skip it.

This is one of the icons of the park – and it’s popularity is legend.

Comments: Wait times for this ride get very long, because it’s a slow loading ride. We recommend trying to get on this ride first thing in the morning before it gets too busy, or using a Guest Assistance card for an alternate waiting area. If your child is reluctant to try the ride, you might have them climb in the non-flying elephant near the ride to introduce them to it. At the end of the ride, all flying elephants do rise to top and come down, so keep this in mind if there is a height problem.

The tipsy Mouse pops out of the oversized teapot at regular intervals. This is one of the parks original attraction.

Comments: This ride can make you dizzy! To minimize the effects, spin slowly (or not at all – it’s fun either way) and keep your eyes on a fixed point. Enjoy the music of the “Unbirthday Song” from the “Alice in Wonderland” movie, but be warned - it gets stuck in your head!

Fastpass?  Yes

Minimum Height:  40 Inches

Summary:  Based on the classic film "Star Wars", this ride starts off in a space port, where you are waiting to board a tourist shuttle to the forest moon of Endor.  Your pilot is a rookie droid, designation RX-24 (or "Rex" for short), but the navigation droid is our old friend R2-D2.  Chaos ensues from the moment the shuttle starts to taxi out of the spaceport - and straight into a restricted area.  You clear the shuttle and it's "lightspeed to Endor".  However, you overshoot the moon and head right into a field of icy comets!  No sooner have you cleared that hurdle than the Empire has you in a tractor beam.  Rescued by Wedge Antilles, you get the ultimate thrill of taking a run at the Death Star before safely returning to the Star Tours hangar.

Comments:  The ride is a motion simulator with a 2-D movie screen.  During the ride your seat moves in response to the action on the screen.  This motion can be intense and rough.  The noise during the movie can be overwhelming at times.  Children who love the "Star Wars" movies tend to enjoy this ride more than children who aren't familiar with the story line.  If you have doubts about how your child will react to the motion simulator, you may wish for an adult to ride first and evaluate the appropriateness for your child.

Note: Star Tours is planned to be closed in the fall of 2010 and open up in late spring/early summer with an upgrade to the attraction.

Hidden Mickeys: Look for the Mickey doll in the pre-show.

Josh Rating: Thumb up - "Let's do that one again!"
