Kidcot Funstops
Kidcot Funstops, sponsored by Sharpie Markers, offer fun ways to keep children interested in the many "educational" pavilions in Future World and around the World Showcase. At the Kidcot Funstops, kids can color and decorate two different craft projects - a passport in Future World, and a mask in the World Showcase. Craft projects are free, and each stop offers Sharpie markers for coloring (beware - permanent ink!) as well as stamps and die cut paper charms to commemorate each stop.
You can find Kidcot Funstops in each of the eleven World Showcase Countries, as well as in Future World in the Land Pavilion, the Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion, the Test Track Pavilion, and the Innoventions West Pavilion.
There are several reasons why a parent of a child with autism may want for him/her to pick up a mask or passport and look for the Kidcot stations:
- Interacting with the cast members in the World Showcase is a good way to practice social skills
- It allows children who enjoy crossing things off a chance to find all of the Kidcot Funstops
- It is a free souvenier that is personalized for each child
- It gives the child a chance to color and be creative
- Cast members in the World Showcase will often write a child's name in their native alphabet, offering a chance for children to compare and contrast
Drawbacks to the Kidcot Funstops are really limited:
- They can occasionally be crowded and noisy
- The Sharpie markers are permanent ink and can stain clothes and hands
